Drag queens and other beasts

Blog 11 staat in mijn computer. Ben ik dan echt al 13 weken hier? Een week vol met ..? Met wat eigenlijk? De weken gaan zo snel dat ik het allemaal niet meer bij kan houden, haha.

Ik heb deze week ook niet echt veel bijzonders gedaan. Maar dat vind ik eigenlijk helemaal niet zo erg. Ik leid hier nu een normaal leventje, net als thuis. Doordeweeks werk ik, in het weekend is het tijd voor de huishoudelijke bezigheden en schoolwerk. Niet zo spannend dus, maar ik vind het wel fijn. Wel probeer ik altijd iets leuks te doen met mijn collega’s of huisgenoten.

Vrijdag was er Drag Night in de Foundry (waar ik woon). Alle mannen waren verkleed als vrouwen en vice versa. Er waren verschillende ‘verkiezingen’, wie het beste was verkleed etc. Uiteindelijk moest iedereen over een (geïmproviseerde) catwalk lopen en werd de winnaar uitgekozen. De avond werd afgesloten met een ‘Roast’, waarbij het comité van de studentenvereniging op de hak werd gezet. Ik heb enorm gelachen en het was echt een leuke avond.

Gister zou ik eigenlijk met mijn collega’s naar de film gaan, maar dat ging niet door. Plan B was om met mijn huisgenoten te gaan, maar die hadden geen tijd. ik dacht dan ga ik wel alleen, maar uiteindelijk is mijn huisgenoot en haar vriendin toch meegeweest. We gingen naar ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’. Een film van de schrijfster van de Harry Potter films. Het was een super goede film, met allerlei mooie en ook wel schattige dieren. De graphic designs waren echt goed gemaakt.

Ik heb een hoop leuke dingen op het programma staan voor de aankomende weken, maar daarover later meer..

Blogpost 11 is written in my folder. Am I really 13 weeks here already? This week was full with..? Actually with what? The weeks pass by so fast, that I can’t keep up with it, ha ha.

I also didn’t really do a lot of special things this week. But I don’t really mind, either. My life is starting to settle down a bit more, it’s starting to feel it more like home. During the week I have to work, and the weekends are for domestic work and school assignments. It’s not really exciting, but I like it. But I always try to do something fun with my colleagues or roommates.

Friday it was Drag Night in The Foundry (where I live). All the men were dressed up as women and vice versa. A few different competitions where held, who was the best dressed etc. eventually everybody had to do their walk on an (improvised) catwalk and a winner was appointed. At the end of the night there was a roast, where the comity of the student association was being roasted. I had a blast and it was a really good evening.

Yesterday I was supposed to go to the cinema with my colleagues, but that was cancelled. My plan B was to go with my roomies, but they didn’t have time to go. At first, I was like, okay I’ll go alone, but eventually my roommate and her girlfriend joined me. We went to ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’, a film written by J.K. Rowling. It was a fantastic film (see what I did there), I really liked the graphics and all the cute beasts.

For the following weeks I have a lot of cool things planned, but I can’t see anything about that yet.
